Tequila Lime Shrimp Tacos make for a festive and delicious meal, and they’re relatively simple to prepare. Here’s a recipe to help you create this flavorful dish:

Ingredients:

For the Shrimp:

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tbsp tequila

Zest and juice of 1 lime

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 tsp chili powder (or more to taste)

1/4 tsp ground cumin

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped

1 tbsp olive oil

For the Tacos:

8 small tortillas (corn or flour, based on preference)

1 cup shredded lettuce or cabbage

1 ripe avocado, sliced

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1/4 cup diced red onion

Fresh cilantro leaves

Lime wedges, for serving

Optional: sour cream, salsa, or a preferred taco sauce

Instructions:

    Shrimp Marinade:

In a mixing bowl, combine the tequila, lime zest, lime juice, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, and cilantro. Mix well.

Add the shrimp to the bowl, ensuring they’re well-coated with the marinade. Let them marinate for about 15-30 minutes (but not much longer to avoid over-marinating).

    Cooking the Shrimp:

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Once hot, add the shrimp, discarding the excess marinade.

Cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes on each side or until they are opaque and pink.

Remove from the skillet and set aside.

    Assembling the Tacos:

Warm the tortillas according to their package instructions or by placing them directly over a gas flame for a few seconds on each side until slightly charred and warm.

Lay out a tortilla and add a layer of lettuce or cabbage.

Top with a few pieces of the cooked shrimp.

Add slices of avocado, diced tomatoes, and red onion.

Drizzle with optional taco sauce, sour cream, or salsa if desired.

Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

Repeat with the remaining tortillas.

    Serving:

Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side.

Enjoy your Tequila Lime Shrimp Tacos with a refreshing beverage like a margarita or cold beer for a perfect pairing!
