One of our all time favourite traditional Bread that is only baked during Lent in particular the Holy Week. A delicious soft bread with a crunchy crust covered with sesame seeds and whole almonds. Nothing pleases the taste buds like a piece of qaghqa just spread with butter or finished off with cheese and ham

This recipe is so easy to make! No kneading, just mix everything in a mixer.

Ingredients:

360g/12.7oz Plain or Bread Plain Flour 0

1 Tsp Salt

50ml Milk (room temperature)

175ml Warm Water

15g Instant, Quick, Fast Action or Easy Bake Yeast

2 Tsp Sugar

2 Tbls Olive Oil

Method:

In a mixer’s bowl, add the flour, yeast, sugar and mix together, then add the salt and stir again. Add the remaining ingredients and mix with the dough hook for 5 minutes until smooth.

Cover with clingfilm and a cloth and leave to rise for 1 hour in a warm place.

Once rested roll the dough into a large log. Form the ring by joining both ends together and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the ring with milk, slightly press almonds into the dough and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top.

Leave to rise again for 45 minutes.

Bake in oven 200C/400F until golden.

Enjoy!
