This Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions Feast is a deliciously hearty dish! Juicy sausages are sautéed with sweet peppers and onions in a flavorful sauce, perfect for serving over hoagie rolls, pasta, or rice.

Ingredients:

1 ½ lbs Italian sausage links

3 bell peppers (red, green, yellow), sliced

2 large onions, sliced

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 tbsp olive oil

1 (15 oz) can crushed tomatoes

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

Salt and pepper, to taste

Hoagie rolls or cooked pasta, for serving

Fresh basil, for garnish

Instructions:

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage links and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.

Add sliced peppers, onions, and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Return sausages to the skillet, cover, and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the sausages are cooked through.

Serve hot over hoagie rolls, pasta, or rice. Garnish with fresh basil.

Helpful Tips:

For extra heat, add red pepper flakes or use spicy Italian sausage.

Grill the sausages first for a smokier flavor.
