Ingredients

– 2 cups Sifted all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon Baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon baking Soda

– 1/2 teaspoon Salt

– 2 teaspoons Ginger

– 1/2 teaspoon Allspice

– 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon

– 1/2 cup Shortening, soft

– 1/2 cup Brown sugar, firmly packed

– 1/2 cup Brown sugar, firmly packed

– 2 Eggs

– 1/2 cup Light molasses

– 1 cup Cooked oatmeal, cooled*

– 1 cup Cooked oatmeal, cooled*

 

Preparation

Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices into bowl.

 

Add remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.

 

Bake in preheated moderate oven (375 F.) 12 to 15 minutes.

 

Remove from cookie sheets; cool.

 

Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar, if desired.*NOTE: Cook Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked) according to package directions.
