Condensed milk caramel slice, also known as caramel slice or millionaire’s shortbread, is a delicious and indulgent dessert consisting of three layers: a buttery biscuit base, a rich caramel filling made with condensed milk, and a layer of chocolate on top. Here’s a recipe to make condensed milk caramel slice:

 

Ingredients:

– 200g (7 oz) plain biscuits (such as Digestive or Graham crackers)

– 125g (4.4 oz) unsalted butter, melted

– 395g (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

– 2 tablespoons golden syrup or corn syrup

– 150g (5.3 oz) dark chocolate, chopped

 

Instructions:

  1. Crush the biscuits into fine crumbs. You can do this by placing them in a plastic bag and crushing them with a rolling pin or using a food processor.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the biscuit crumbs with the melted butter until well combined.
  3. Press the biscuit mixture firmly into the base of a lined square baking tin (approximately 20cm/8in) and refrigerate for 15 minutes to set.
  4. In a saucepan, combine the condensed milk, golden syrup, and butter. Cook over low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens and turns a caramel color. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the biscuit base, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Return the tin to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours or until the caramel is firm.
  6. In a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, melt the dark chocolate, stirring until smooth.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Place the tin back in the refrigerator for another 1-2 hours or until the chocolate is set.
  9. Once set, remove the caramel slice from the tin and cut into squares or rectangles.
  10. Serve and enjoy! You can store the caramel slice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
